30.06.10Another hectic but successful weekend for Taylor!
KRP Node 4 MMCG rider and PBRA supported Taylor McKenzie was again in action on two fronts this weekend as the young Scot competed the 2010 Red Bull Rookies Championship at Assen as well as the British 125cc championship at Mallory Park. The talented teenager secured a 9th position in Race One at Assen which was his first top 10 finish of the year in the highly competitive one make series. In Race Two Taylor was again running well in the top 10 until he was knocked off the track on the last lap, leaving him to limp home in 15th.
Following the race on Saturday, Taylor and father Neil did the 10 hour drive to Mallory Park in Leicestershire so he could continue his quest for the British Championship. Due to Taylors activities at Assen he was forced to start from the back of the grid as he missed both practice and qualifying sessions. Again Taylor showed his class around what is an extremely tight and technical circuit to come through the field and finish in an unbelievable 7th place.
Tarran McKenzie continued upon his steep learning curve at Mallory Park this weekend securing 27th position. The younger and less experienced of the two brothers managed to catch and pass the rider in front of him for the first time this season, which means all the hard work and perseverance is beginning to pay off.
Taylor commented This weekend has been crazy! I was really happy with my performances in Assen. The championship has some really strong riders and the pace is always red hot. But I got into a good rhythm and posted some really good lap times which were within a second of the race winner. The race at Mallory was really good fun. You are forced to make a lot of passes and push from the very start which can only be good for my race craft. To come home in 7th was more than I expected and will help my championship charge.
